The Town of Kingsville is committed to the preservation of water and the protection of its water supply system.

Lawn Watering By-law

To ensure our water distribution system has enough water to meet the needs of users (including fire protection, medical care, sanitation, and personal drinking), the Town of Kingsville has a Lawn Watering By-Law that outlines days and times you can water your lawn, determined by the last digit of your address. Please help us maintain service levels and avoid a total water ban on outside water use by following these important guidelines. Failure to comply may result in fines.

Lawn Watering Restrictions in Kingsville:

1. Lawn or garden watering is only permitted on alternate days. Municipal addresses ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8 can water on even calendar days, and those ending in 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 can water on odd calendar days.
2. Lawn or garden watering is only allowed between 5 am and 8 am and between 6 pm and midnight on permitted days.
3. Residents with a newly seeded or sodded lawn can apply for a permit temporarily exempting them from these restrictions.
4. If demands on the water supply and distribution system become so severe that service levels are threatened, a total ban on outside water use will be declared.
5. Breaking these rules may result in a fine of up to $5,000.

Ten Tips to Save Water at Home

1. Turn the faucet off when brushing your teeth
2. Wait until you have a full load before running the washing machine or dishwasher
3. Use a low-flow showerhead and faucet aerators
4. Repair leaks
5. Install a low-flow or dual-flush toilet
6. Follow the Town's Lawn Watering by-law, and consider installing a rain sensor on an irrigation system.
7. Use a rain barrel for outdoor watering.
8. Catch stormwater runoff from your roof and driveway with a rain garden
9. Closely monitor water usage on your water bill. Consider a home water audit
