The next Municipal Election and School Board will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026. The 2026 Municipal Election is your opportunity to help shape the future of Kingsville given that decisions made at the municipal level have a direct impact on your daily life.

This page is here to help you confirm your eligibility, understand the voting process, and find everything you need to vote with confidence.

Vote in Person! 

This election is different. The Town of Kingsville is returning to traditional in-person voting with paper ballots there is no mail-in voting this year.

Vote Anywhere - You are not assigned to a specific polling station. Vote at whichever location and time works best for you.

Voters' List 

Elections Ontario now maintains a Permanent Register of Electors for Ontario, commonly known as the Register or Voters’ List. The Voters’ List, is a list of individuals who are eligible to vote in provincial and local municipal elections in Ontario. You should confirm, update, or add your information if you:

  • have changed your name or address;
  • own or rent a new property;
  • no longer own or rent a property;
  • want to remove your information;
  • wish to remove yourself from the Register;
  • wish to remove a deceased person from the Register; or,
  • wish to add yourself to the list of Future Voters (if you’re under 18 years of age).

School Support

The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) remains responsible for collecting information about a voter's school support. June 1 was the deadline to update your school support designation so MPAC could provide accurate information to Elections Ontario for the creation of the Preliminary List of Electors, in accordance with election timelines. You can still update your school support designation after June 1 by contacting the Town of Kingsville at 519-733-2305 or by email at clerks@kingsville.ca.

You are eligible to vote in the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election, if you are:

  • A Canadian citizen;
  • At least eighteen (18) years old;
  • A resident of the Town of Kingsville or a non-resident of the Town of Kingsville and you or your spouse own or rent property in the Town of Kingsville; and,
  • Are not prohibited from voting under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, or by law.

You are ineligible to vote in the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election, if you are:

  • A person who is not qualified;
  • A person who is serving a sentence or imprisonment in a penal or correctional institution;
  • A corporation;
  • A person acting as executor or trustee or in any other representative capacity;
  • A person who has been convicted of corrupt practices under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, if voting day in the current election is less than five (5) years after voting day in the election in respect of which he or she was convicted; or,
  • Anyone who is prohibited by law from voting.

As outlined in the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, a person may have residences and vote in two (2) local municipalities at the same time, in the same election, if:

  • The person lives in one of the local municipalities in order to attend an educational institution, but not with the intention of changing their permanent lodging place; and,
  • The person's permanent lodging place is in the other local municipality.

English-language Public School Board Voter criteria:

  • Be a supporter of the English-language public district school board; or

  • Not be a supporter of any board, nor have qualified yourself as an elector for a separate or French-language school board in the election

English-language Separate School Board Voter criteria:

  • You, your spouse or a joint owner/tenant must be Roman Catholic

French-language Public School Board Voter criteria:

  • French is your first language, and you still understand it; or
  • You attended a French-language school in Canada; or
  • Your child(ren) attend or attended a French-language school in Canada

French-language Separate School Board Voter requirements:

  • You must be Roman Catholic and meet one of the criteria listed above

Attending French immersion or French as a second language programs does not qualify. More information about French-language education is available from the Ministry of Education.

Certification of Nominations and Declaration of Election by Acclamation

The Clerk shall certify nominations and declared any candidates elected by acclamation. s.37(1),(2) and s.37(1). 

Tuesday, September 1, 2026 Revisions to the Voters’ List
Individuals may apply to the Clerk’s Office until the close of voting on October 26, 2026, to have their name added to or removed from the voters’ list, or to update their information. Requests may also be made to remove the name of a deceased person. s.24, 25

Advance Vote Days

Voting opportunities will be available between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Voting locations will be published in advance, and voter notification packages will be provided.

New Term of Office Commences
Elected members must take the oath of office before assuming their seats.

If you are unable to vote on any of the Advance Voting Days (October 7, October 17, and October 24), or on Voting Day (October 26), you can "vote by proxy" - this means you can have another person cast a ballot on your behalf (called a Voting Proxy).

An Elector qualified to vote in the Town of Kingsville may appoint another Elector (also qualified to vote in the Town of Kingsville), as their Voting Proxy. An Elector may act as a Voting Proxy for:

  • One other Elector qualified to vote who is a not a relative; or,
  • One or more Electors qualified to vote who are relatives, using separate Form 3 -
    Appointment of Voting Proxy forms (per the Municipal Elections Act), relatives are defined to mean
    the parent, grandparent, child, grandchild, sibling or spouse of the Elector
    appointment).

How Do I Appoint a Voting Proxy?

On or after Friday, August 21, 2026 (Nomination Day) and up to and including Saturday, October 24, an Elector who wishes to appoint a Voting Proxy, may visit the Town of Kingsville Municipal Offices (2021 Division Road North), during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm or on any Advance Voting Day from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm) to complete a Form 3 - Appointment of Voting Proxy (Form 3). Please see important notes below:

  • The Form 3 - Appointment of Voting Proxy must be completed at the Clerk's Office in front of the Clerk or their designate.
  • The Elector appointing the Voting Proxy must produce original and valid identification for themselves and the Elector they wish to appoint as a Voting Proxy. Driver's Licences or other identification that confirms the qualifying Kingsville address of both the Elector appointing the Voting Proxy and the Voting Proxy are best.
  • The Clerk or their designate will issue and certify the Voting Proxy.
  • The Voting Proxy will be added to the Register of Proxy Appointments which will be available for public inspection, upon request, throughout the election period.
  • Only original signatures will be accepted on the Form 3.
