Thursday October 13 to Sunday October 16, 2022

This year marks the 53rd annual Migration Festival weekend. Kingsville welcomes the community to a celebration of migration, heritage, nature conservation and Jack Miner. Jack Miner Bird Sanctuary is also hosting various activities, such as a maze, a car show slow roll, and much more. See what Jack Miner's is doing. 

 Great Migration Paint Out

Thursday, October 13, 2022 - Sunday, October 16, 2022

The Great Migration Paint Out" is a four-day "en Plein air" painting competition starting Thursday, October 13, 2022.

  • First Prize: $1000 
  • Second Prize: $500 
  • Third Prize: $300
  • Additional prizes are available to be won in different categories. 

Register online! Registration cost is $55.00. 

NEW THIS YEAR: Two Hour Quick Paint Competition at Lakeside Park. Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. $10.00 to participate. Must provide your own canvas or panel and materials. First prize is $300.00. Register online, at check-in, or at the park from 9 am - 9:30 am. See schedule for judging and wet work sale times.

Sunday, October 16, 2022 Great Migration Paint Out Art Reception "Show and Sale" at the Grovedale Arts & Culture Centre

The Great Migration Paint Out entries will be on display at The Grovedale Arts & Culture Centre for judging and many will be available to purchase. Meet the artists and vote for your favourite piece for the People’s Choice Award, while enjoying music from the Windsor Symphony’s String Quartet, hors d’oeuvres from the Kingsville Lions’ Club, and a cash bar. Award presentations begin at 4:00 pm.

Opening Ceremonies and Family Movie Night

Friday, October 14, 2022, 6:30 pm at Lions Hall

Join Deputy Mayor Gord Queen and members of Council for opening remarks, followed by a Family Movie Night. Watch Fly Away Home (1996), starting around 7:00 pm. Free popcorn will be available from the 2nd Kingsville Scouts as well as additional paid concessions. 

Pet Parade

Saturday, October 15, 2022, 10:00 am, Lakeside Park

Join us for Kingsville's first-ever pet parade. Dress up your pet, dress up your kids, dress up LIKE your pet, MATCH your pet, or get creative however you like! Anything goes. You don't even need a pet to participate. Decorate your bike, stroller, wagon, tricycle, and more.

Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Lakeside Park. Meet at Lakeside Park's cobblestone bridge at 9:00 am to register. The parade starts at 10:00 am. Spectators can gather in the lower bowl. Bring your own chair and blanket.

Various activities for children will be going on throughout the day at Lakeside Park, Lions Park and the Kingsville OPP Station.

Kingsville OPP Station

  • Join the Kingsville Community Policing Committee on the front lawn of the OPP Station for some pumpkin carving!

Historic Walks and Bike Tours
 The Town on Pigeon Bay Historical Walk

Sunday, October 16, 2022
12:00 pm and 2:00 pm at Metttawas Gazebo, 19 Mettawas Lane

This year’s Migration Festival historical tour will celebrate Kingsville’s waterfront.  The tour will start with the history of the Grovedale Hotel, King’s Landing and its famous resident, George the Ghost. Participants will learn about how Kingsville evolved from a quaint cottage town to a year round tourist destination.   The tour will continue to the docks to discover Kingsville’s influence on the shipping, fishing and rum-running industries and conclude with a trip down Lakeview Avenue to admire the turn of the century architecture.

Optional Beer Tasting, $5:00 per person

Enjoy samples of Grove Brew House beers, connected to Kingsville's history. 

Honkin' Round the Town Bike Tour with Bike Windsor-Essex

Saturday, October 15, 2022
2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Join Bike Windsor Essex on a special Migration Fest bike tour around Kingsville, with stops at Migration Fest sites and local attractions. Rides depart from the Carnegie Visitors Centre. Route features on road and gravel trail sections. Suitable for average and higher level riders. Weather permitting. Free!

Jack Miner & Harvest Bike Tour

Sunday, October 16, 2022
2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Approximately 20 km roundtrip

Join Bike Windsor Essex on a special Migration Fest bike tour celebrating the harvest season with stops at farm stands, wineries, and the Jack Miner Migratory Bird Sanctuary in Kingsville. Rides depart from the Carnegie Visitors Centre. Route features on road and gravel trail sections. Suitable for intermediate and higher level riders. Weather permitting. Free!
