Emergencies can happen at any time and without warning. Emergency Preparedness Week is May 3rd to 9th. This year's theme is: Be Prepared, Know Your Risks. The Town of Kingsville wants to encourage residents to be ready by understanding the risks in our area, creating a household emergency plan, and building an emergency kit.

Win your kit

As part of Emergency Preparedness Week, Kingsville Fire and Rescue is giving away an emergency kit ("go-bag") valued at $150.00. To enter, fill out an online ballot for a chance to win. Must be a Kingsville, Cottam or Ruthven resident to win.

Build your own kit!

The Government of Canada recommends building an emergency kit with a variety of items, such as:

Water

Canned Food

Manual Can Opener

Wind-up or Battery Powered Flashlight/Radio

First Aid Kit

Extra Keys for your Car and House

Cash

Travellers' Cheques

Change

Important Family Documents (such as identification, insurance and bank records)

"Emergencies don’t wait, and being prepared is key,” said Kingsville Fire Chief, Scott Moore. "We encourage all residents to take this opportunity to assess their readiness and make necessary preparations to protect themselves and their families."
