Kingsville Raises Flag for National AccessAbility Week
The Town of Kingsville was happy to recognize National AccessAbility Week with an official flag-raising on Monday, June 1, 2026 organized by the Town’s Accessibility Advisory Committee.
“Let's continue to work together to drive positive change, celebrate diversity, and build a community where everyone feels at home,” said Kingsville Mayor Dennis Rogers.
Town officials were joined by members of its Accessibility Advisory Committee and guests from Ursa Major Day Support Program: Empowering Adults with Disabilities.
"We appreciate everything this Town does for us. They have been nothing but supportive of everything we've done since the day we started, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, it's an amazing Town," said Mitchell Young, who co-owns Ursa Major with his sister, Vanessa. "To do things like this and to be part of spreading awareness is actually really amazing."
Residents are encouraged to participate in Red Shirt Day on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, and to stop by the Kingsville Essex County Library during the week to learn more at the information display. The Town's Accessibility Advisory Committee will also be at the 2026 Accessibility Fest-for-All on September 11, 2026. This year’s event will be held at the Gosfield Communications Community Centre in Cottam, and is planned by the County of Essex’s Accessibility Advisory Committee. It showcases accessible activities through demonstrations, products, services and information. Learn more about Fest-for-All on the County’s website.
