Fire Prevention Week is October 4 to 10. Kingsville Fire reminds you to "Charge into Fire Safety" and practice everyday charging habits that can help reduce the risk of lithium-ion battery fires and keep homes and communities safer.

Use manufacturer-approved batteries and chargers
Never charge on beds, couches, or other combustible surfaces
Avoid charging batteries overnight or while unattended
Stop using batteries that are swollen, leaking, damaged, or unusually hot
Never dispose of lithium-ion batteries in household garbage
