Don’t Hit the Pit: Protect Water Meter Pits During Lawn Care
As lawn maintenance season gets underway, the Town of Kingsville is reminding residents to be mindful of water meter pits when mowing or landscaping.
Water meter pit lids are located on private property, most commonly in rural areas and can be difficult to spot, especially when covered by grass or ground cover. While some lids are painted blue, not all are, which can make them easy to miss.
Accidental contact from lawn mowers or other equipment can damage pit lids, which can result in a service call.
If your meter is not located inside your home, take a moment to locate your water meter pit. Keep the area trimmed and visible and take extra care when operating equipment nearby.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping protect municipal infrastructure.
