2026 Municipal Election - Notice of Municipal and School Board Election

Pursuant to the requirements of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, notice is hereby given to the Municipal Electors of the Town of Kingsville that the next Municipal and School Board Election will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026.  The new Term of Council will begin on November 15, 2026, and end on November 14, 2030. Town of Kingsville Municipal voters will elect the following:

Municipal Offices

  • One (1) Mayor, to be elected at large
  • One (1) Deputy Mayor, to be elected at large
  • Five (5) Councillors, to be elected at large

School Board Trustees       

  • One (1) Greater Essex County District School Board Trustee
  • One (1) Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board Trustee
  • One (1) Conseil Scolaire Viamonde Trustee
  • One (1) Conseil Scolaire Catholique Providence Trustee

Qualifications for Electors

In accordance with Section 17(2) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, a person is entitled to be an elector held in a local municipality if on voting day they:

  • Reside in the local municipality, or are the owner or tenant of land there
  • Are a Canadian citizen
  • Are at least 18 years old; and
  • Are not prohibited from voting or holding office under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 or otherwise by law

Voters’ List and School Support Confirmation

Elections Ontario maintains a Permanent Register of Electors for Ontario, commonly known as the Voters’ List, and is now responsible for maintaining the Municipal Voters’ List. Visit www.RegisterToVoteOn.ca to confirm or update your information. You may also remove yourself or a deceased person from the Voters’ List.

The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (“MPAC”) remains responsible for collecting and maintaining information about a voter’s school support. Visit www.mpac.ca/schoolsupport to confirm or update your school support information

Vote Method

On November 3, 2025, Town of Kingsville Council approved traditional in-person voting with paper ballots as the voting method and adopted By-law 66-2025 authorizing the use of electronic tabulators to assist in the counting of ballots, for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election.

Voter Information Letters

Town of Kingsville voters can expect to receive a Voter Information Letter (“VIL”) by regular mail before the end of September. All registered voters at the same address will receive their VIL in a single envelope. 

The VIL will contain important information such as voting dates, locations and hours, as well as acceptable forms of identification, as prescribed by O. Reg. 304/13.

Voting Day

On Monday, October 26, 2026, Voting Day, Kingsville voters may choose from any of the following locations to cast their ballots from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm:

  • Gosfield Communications Community Centre (124 Fox Street, Cottam)
  • Grovedale Arts and Culture Centre (103 Park Street, Kingsville)
  • Olinda-Ruthven United Church (1907 Queen Boulevard, Ruthven)
  • Unico Community Centre (37 Beech Street, Kingsville)

Advance Voting Days

To encourage high voter participation, the Clerk has established three (3) Advance Voting Days, the particulars for which are below:

  • Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at the Grovedale Arts and Culture Centre (103 Park Street, Kingsville) from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm
  • Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the Gosfield Communications Community Centre  (124 Fox Street, Cottam), from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm
  •  Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Grovedale Arts and Culture Centre (103 Park Street, Kingsville), from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Accessibility 

The Town of Kingsville is committed to ensuring that all voters have an equal opportunity to vote. Accessible voting technologies such as Ballot Marking Devices will be available at select voting locations. Voters requiring assistance will also be able to vote with the assistance of an Election Official, Friend, or Support Person, as requested. Further, voters will be able to request individualized accommodation, and the Town will make all reasonable efforts to provide the requested accommodation.
