Pollinate Kingsville

Our Mission

The Pollinate Kingsville committee is committed to the three pillars of the Bee City Program.

  1. Promoting naturalization and maintenance
  2. Educating and engaging the community in the importance of pollinators
  3. Celebrating pollinators

Pollinate Kingsville's initiatives

Pollinator Week is an annual celebration that supports pollinator health. Each year, outreach events are held to celebrate and educate the community about the importance of pollinators and how we can support them.

Each November 1st, the Committee hosts the Annual Pumpkin Parade. The community is asked to donate their used pumpkins with no stickers or painting. The donated pumpkins are placed around the park, with battery-operated lights, and residents can walk the lighted pumpkin trail. After the parade, the pumpkins are recycled by donating them to local farms to feed animals or for compost. This is a great way to help our ecosystem and provide a unique Kingsville event.

Have you seen yellow fish painted on some of Kingsville’s storm drains? This is part of the Yellow Fish Road Program, an initiative run by Trout Unlimited Canada that teaches people the importance of keeping our water clean and protecting the environment.

Kingsville is a Bee City! Check out details on our Bee City status.

Pollinate Kingsville is the Greenway Guardian of the Chrysler Canada Greenway Section. Read more about the Greenway Guardian program facilitated by Essex Region Conservation.

What have we done?

On top of hosting the Pumpkin Parade and pollinator week activities, the committee also organizes the Kingsville Nature and Garden Show; a speaker series and marketplace that aims to educate patrons on the best and latest in sustainable and environmentally-friendly topics including gardening, supporting local wildlife, and protecting native species.

The committee collaborated with Estate of Health Holistic Wellness Centre and Essex Region Conservation Authority to develop the Meditation Trail.

What are we planning?

The Pollinate Kingsville committee is always working hard on a variety of projects, including regular garbage clean ups, outreach and fundraising events, and planting gardens. Please reach out to learn more about their current plans at specialevents@kingsville.ca.
