The Kingsville Fire Department Presents Emergency Preparedness Tips - Emergency Planning for People with Disabilities and People with Pets

The Kingsville Fire Department is reminding residents about the importance of creating Emergency Plans that include considerations for people with disabilities and people with pets.

People with Disabilities

An emergency can happen to any one of us, but they may have a greater impact on individuals with disabilities. When preparing an emergency plan, be sure to include any necessary accommodations tailored to the person’s specific needs.

For guidance, visit the Ontario Provincial Emergency Preparedness Guide for People with Disabilities webpage. You can also download the Emergency Preparedness Guide for People with Disabilities developed by Emergency Management Ontario in partnership with the Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility.

People with Pets

Do you have pet(s)? If so, ensure that you remember to include them in your emergency planning. Visit the Ontario SPCA Pet Emergency Preparedness webpage for information on how to prepare an emergency plan for your pet(s).

If you don’t already have an emergency plan, take the first step today. Visit the Town of Kingsville’s Emergency Preparedness Tips – Have an Emergency Plan for guidance on creating your emergency plan and assembling your emergency kit.
