Kingsville Commemorates National Day for Truth and Reconciliation with an Orange Shirt Walk
National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day both take place on September 30 each year.
Orange Shirt Day is an Indigenous-led grassroots initiative that raisesawareness of residential schools' individual, family and community inter-generational impacts while promoting the truth that Every Child Matters.
The first observance of a National Day for Truth and Reconciliation was September 30, 2021, following the identification of unmarked burials at former Indian Residential School sites.
The Town of Kingsville is holding an Orange Shirt Walk to commemorate the significance of this day.
Wear an orange shirt, and join us at noon at the Kingsville Recreation Complex (Baseball Diamond 5) on Monday, September 30, 2024. We'll begin with opening remarks followed by a community walk along Jasperson. See a map of the route.
Help us spread a wave of orange through Town as we remember the survivors and victims of residential schools and their families.
