Council Brief from the March 17, 2025 Meeting

At its March 17, 2025 meeting, Council:
-
Approved zoning changes for the property at 197 Lansdowne Avenue, shifting it from “Industrial” to “Commercial.” Council also updated the Zoning By-law to allow for fewer parking spaces (42) and to exempt trucks and trailers from needing a paved area for turning.

Approved a Subdivision Agreement for 175 Wigle Avenue, which will have 18 blocks for 36 semi-detached homes, and one block for a temporary cul-de-sac. A new public road will be named Sarkis Street....

Our goal is to identify strategies for managing heightened demands on the fire department as the community grows, and align services to meet community need. Notice of Passing of By-Law Amendments Related to Building Heights Within The Main Street Corridor

Council passed on February 10, 2025:
- By-Law 04-2025: an amendment to the Official Plan of the Town of Kingsville
- By-Law 05-2025: an amendment to the Comprehensive Zoning By-Law for the Town of Kingsville
The purpose of the amendments is to enact changes to policies related to building heights within the Main Street Corridor.
We are now holding Council and Committee meetings at the Unico Hall Community Centre, 37 Beach Street.
Preliminary Work on Watermain for New West Side Collector Road to Begin Monday, March 17, 2025

Preliminary work on construction of the watermain for the new west side collector road extending Heritage Road to Road 2 West will begin on Monday, March 17, 2025 and continue throughout the year. The watermain will service the south western portion of Kingsville.
The project was approved by Council earlier this year.

Notice of Public Information Meeting – Review of the Areas Available for Development

Kingsville has initiated a review of the areas available for development (residential, commercial, industrial) to look at the adjustment and reallocation of lands within Kingsville, Cottam and Ruthven, which are identified in the 2024 County Official Plan for land use.
Why are we doing this?
- Under the Planning Act, municipalities must maintain lands to accommodate residential growth for a minimum of 15 years through residential intensification, redevelopment, and boundary adjustments.
