Cycling

Essex County has a flat terrain. It is a great place for active transportation.

Kingsville actively plans more routes and pathways. The aim is to connect attractions, parks, and the business centre. Many destinations within the town are 1.6 km from the downtown core. They are accessible by our safe cycling routes. Cyclists can also visit our communities Cottam and Ruthven.

The municipality and the County of Essex have installed "share the road" signage. The signage is along major routes and roadways. White edge lines have been painted to show a safe zone for cyclists.

Trails

The County Wide Active Transportation System (CWATS) connects Essex County municipalities by trails and paths. These trails and paths lead to the local municipality's routes. They help people get on their way and travel to where they need to go.

The Chrysler Canada Greenway is the southernmost section of the Trans Canada Trail. It is a 48 km multi-use trail that is great for cycling. It connects people to nature and culture in a way that is accessible.

Our region is a peninsula. It offers some of the best waterfront cycling trails in the province. Cycle the section of the Waterfront Trail in Kingsville. Kingsville's historic County Road 50 winds along the north shore of Lake Erie. You will find captivating views and quaint waterfront communities.
