Dog tags are now available at the municipal office for purchase. There have been new changes to dog tag registration.

Dog owners must now provide a copy of their dog’s rabies vaccination.

The Town’s By-law 103-2003, as amended states: Every person who harbours or shelters a dog in the Town of Kingsville for a period of 7 days in a calendar year, shall register their dog with the Town on or before March 31st of each year and pay the fees as prescribed.

The fee is $20.00 before March 31, 2017 and $40.00 thereafter.

Dog tags are used in the event that a licensed dog is found at-large. The Corporation of the Town of Kingsville will make every effort to reunite you with your dog. Licensing fees support initiatives such as:

  • Feeding and sheltering stray dogs
  • Emergency medical care for sick/injured stray dogs
  • Immunization control and enforcement
  • Enforcement of the Dog Owners’ Liability Act
  • Long term sheltering of unclaimed dogs, and
  • Administration

Of the 35 dogs picked up and housed in the pound last year, 26 were successfully reunited with their owners.

If you have a dog that is considered a dangerous breed, you MUST notify the Town as well as registering the animal. Dangerous breeds include: Pit Bull Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, and American Pit Bull Terriers.

The municipal office is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
